Khushab FIU seizes non duty paid speakers during road checking

FAISALABAD: The Field Investigation Unit of Khushab has confiscated smuggled container worth Rs 6,425,000 involving duty and taxes amounting to Rs2,927,999 during road checking.

According to details, the Field Investigation Unit (FIU) Khushab team following the directions of Deputy Director Riaz Hussain constituted different teams to foil smuggling attempts in the region.

The FIU team during road checking impounded a trailer bearing registration no: TLX-190 loaded with container no. OOLU-961399-4 near Sindh Punjab check post National Highway Kot Sabzal. On query driver of the vehicle introduced himself as Altafur Rehman failed to produce any legal documents regarding transportation of the container.

The Field Investigation Unit brought container to Faisalabad Dry Port for proper examination. Conatiner was de sealed in presence of driver, owner of goods namely Adeel Israr and its examination was carried out which led to recovery of computer speakers, multi speakers, in different audionic brand. The representative produced different GDs in respect of recovers goods. The produced documents were scrutinized and were not found tallied in respect of goods.

The officials found discrepancies while examining the documents and recovered goods, therefore, they confiscated items under Section 18, 32 of the Customs Act, 1969 read with Section 3(1) (3) of the Import and Export Control Act, 1969. However, seizure reports have been submitted to adjudication department for further legal action.
