Kohat ASO confiscates 960kg cardamom worth Rs 2m

ISLAMABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) Kohat seized 960 kilogram of smuggled cardamom worth Rs 2 million recovered from a passenger bus.

Kohat ASO Assistant Collector Muhammad Ali Asad told that the contraband item was loaded in Parachnar, Kuram Agency in a public transport vehicle for smuggling, adding that the consignment was being smuggled to settled areas out of Federal Administrative Tribal Areas (FATA).

TH anti-smuggling mobile squad led by Superintendent Nadar Khan was on its routine patrolling, when it held the public transport and recovered a huge cache of cardamom worth Rs 2 million. The officials asked the driver to show documents regarding customs clearance but he remained fail to do the same.

Therefore, the ASO team confiscated 12 bags, each bag contained 80 kilogram, under the customs laws. The assistant collector said that a handsome amount in wake of duty/taxes could be generated on its legal import.
