Kohat Customs earns Rs17.62m through auction in 5 months

ISLAMABAD: Customs Station Kohat collected Rs17.62 million through auction of impounded vehicles and smuggled goods during first five months (July-November) financial year 2016-17.

According to details told by Sources of Customs station Kohat that the auction cell of Customs Station Kohat collected revenue under the  head of customs duty Rs.13.66 million on auction of different type of smuggled goods who were put up for sale during first five months of FY16-17.

Sources added that during above said period the department collected revenue under head of sales tax Rs2.48 million.  During July to November Kohat Customs collected revenue under head of additional income tax Rs1.48 million.

In North Waziristan Agency, there are two border stations; Ghulam Khan and Angorada, whereas in Kurram Agency, Kharlachi, Burki and Teri Mangal have three customs stations.

He said that the Teri Mangal was closed since 2007 due to security issue but after eight years it was restored it through notification issued on September 8, 2015. Kohat Customs is known as Salt House established in 1860 to enforce tax on salt.
