KP govt fully supports central route of CPEC: Khattak

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak on Saturday said his government fully supported the central route of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

He, however, called for start of work on the western route immediately with provision of all facilities. He was addressing public gatherings at Ghazi, Haripur and Havalian. Advisors to the Chief Minister Mushtaq Ghani and Akbar Ayub were also present in the meetings.

The chief minister said the political leadership promoted the culture of corruption in the past which was the root cause of all the ills being faced by the country. He claimed that the KP government introduced a transparent governance system in the province, stopping plundering of national wealth, besides eliminating political interference in public sector institutions.

The reforms in police, Patwar, health, education and other departments and sectors had yielded dividend and now the resources were being spent on the public welfare in KP, he added.

Pervez Khattak announced up-gradation of Khan Pur as tehsil, Rs 290 million for the construction of a mother child hospital in Haripur, Rs 150 million for the beautification of Haripur, Rs 1.5 million for Haripur Chamber and Rs 3 million for Bar Council. He also announced Rs 100 million for power supply schemes. He also announced setting up a university in Haripur, releasing Rs 2.5 billion for Haripur bypass, up-gradation of Tehsil Headquarter Hospital, up-gradation of Primary schools and BHUs, construction of road from Havilan to Cantonment, Rs 50 million for power supply schemes in Havailan, sanitation schemes in Havalian and Rs 10 million for the construction of a bridge.
