PARACHINAR: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) should immediately rectify an error in new income tax return where compliant taxpayers from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province are unable to file return having immovable properties in Parachinar (border area to Afghanistan).
Tax experts told that the FBR’s new return has not mentioned “Parachinar” in the list of cities where any return filer has already declared his property in last year’s return.
When any taxpayer chooses Kurram district for declaration of immovable property, the list of cities does not contain Parachinar due to unknown reasons. Taxpayers, who have declared immovable properties in Parachinar in their last income tax returns, are now unable to declare their properties. Resultantly, they are unable to timely file their income tax return.
Apparently, the error is very small, but the compliant taxpayers are unable to process their returns due to system error. The compliant taxpayers from KP have requested FBR Chairman to sympathetically look into the issue on top priority basis and direct the PRAL or relevant IT team to include Parachinar in the list of cities of Kurram district for declaration of immovable property in their income tax returns.
