PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Revenue Authority (KPRA) has announced a significant achievement, successfully collecting Rs51.56 billion for the financial year 2024-25, surpassing its assigned target of Rs47 billion by Rs4.56 billion.

This impressive performance comes despite the prevailing economic challenges, with the Authority reporting a robust 37% growth compared to its collection in the fiscal year 2023-24.

According to an official statement released by the KPRA media wing on Tuesday, the majority of the revenue was generated from two key sources: Rs40.3 billion from the sales tax on services, and Rs11.26 billion from the Infrastructure Development Cess (IDC).

Broadening the Tax Net and Increased Taxpayer Count

A crucial factor contributing to KPRA’s success has been its focused efforts on broadening the tax net. The Authority successfully increased its count of registered taxpayers to more than 25,100 by the end of the fiscal year, a move that played a pivotal role in the overall revenue collection growth.

Director General KPRA, Fouzia Iqbal, lauded the dedication and hard work of the KPRA staff for achieving the challenging revenue targets set for the financial year 2024-25. She also extended her gratitude to Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ali Amin Gandapur, and Advisor to CM on Finance, Muzzammil Aslam, acknowledging their continuous guidance and support as vital to KPRA’s success.

Appreciation for Taxpayers

Fouzia Iqbal expressed heartfelt appreciation to the taxpayers of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for their consistent trust and cooperation. “Our taxpayers are the cornerstone of our revenue system. Their compliance and commitment have made this unprecedented achievement possible,” she stated.

This strong performance by KPRA not only highlights effective revenue administration but also signals a positive trend in tax compliance within the province, contributing significantly to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s financial stability.
