PESHAWAR: Advisor to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister on Finance and Inter-Provincial Coordination, Muzzamil Aslam, has announced that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Revenue Authority (KPRA) has once again demonstrated its efficiency by achieving a record-breaking tax collection in January.

According to the latest KPRA statistics, the authority collected an impressive Rs 28.92 billion in taxes from July to January, marking a substantial 46 percent increase compared to the same period last year. This remarkable growth reflects the province’s expanding economic activities and the government’s commitment to sound financial policies.

Aslam emphasized that KP’s non-tax revenue now surpasses 55 percent, which is expected to push the overall revenue collection above 50 percent. He attributed this achievement to the government’s strategic financial planning and diversified revenue streams. “This success is a testament to our administration’s dedication to fiscal responsibility and efficient revenue collection,” he stated.

The KPRA, which plays a crucial role in strengthening the province’s financial stability, has been at the forefront of tax reforms and collection efficiency. Its ability to generate additional revenue has significantly contributed to the region’s economic sustainability. Aslam acknowledged KPRA’s role in fostering financial growth, stating, “The consistent increase in revenue collection is a direct result of KPRA’s commitment to transparency, professionalism, and innovation in tax administration.”

Expressing his gratitude to Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur for his continuous support, Aslam extended special appreciation to KPRA Director General Fozia Iqbal and her team for their relentless efforts in achieving this milestone. “Their hard work and dedication have been instrumental in surpassing previous tax collection records,” he remarked.

KPRA has been actively working to enhance tax compliance and broaden the tax base across various sectors. The authority continues to implement modern digital solutions, streamlined tax procedures, and targeted awareness campaigns to improve efficiency and reduce tax evasion.

Looking ahead, KPRA remains focused on sustaining its upward trajectory in tax collection. With ongoing policy improvements and enhanced collaboration with businesses, the authority is set to further strengthen KP’s fiscal landscape and ensure continued economic growth for the province.
