KSE loses 54pts in early trading

KARACHI: Despite positive opening after Eid holidays, the Karachi Stock Exchange Thursday started with negative note as KSE-100 index lost 54.34 points to drop to 36002.34 in early trading.

On Wednesday, Karachi stock market closed at fresh all time high on speculations ahead of major earnings announcements due next week. The KSE 100-index posted a gain of 169.02 points or 0.47%, closing at its all time high of 36056.68 points level. Oil stocks remained weak on falling global crude prices. Higher trades in second and tier stocks on strong valuations supported the bullish sentiments. Traded volume went up by 3% to 621m shares while traded value increased by 17% to Rs16.5b/$161m.
