KARACHI: The stocks Monday recouped the previous losses it witnessed during the last week as the Karachi Stock Exchange benchmark KSE-100 index gained 173.29 points or 0.53 per cent to reach 32674.04 level at closing.
The stocks recorded the highest trading level of 32763.33 points and lowest level of 32500.75 points, with the volume of 84,351,050shares, having about Rs6 billion value. As many as 321 companies were active; of which 149 advanced, 142 declined and 30 remained unchanged.
Technology & communication remained the highest traded sector with total volume of 21,942,000 shares, while commercial banks remained second traded sector with a total volume of 12,994,000 shares.
The three top traded companies were TRG Pak Ltd with a volume of 11,185,000 and price per share of 35.70 (1.70), Byco Petroleum with a volume 6,676,500 of price per share of 23.03 (0.99), and Sui North Gas with a volume 6,296,000 of price per share of 24.13 (-0.79).
The top three gainers were Ferozsons (Lab) with price per share 1066 (44.94), Highnoon (Lab) with price per share of 592 (24.55) and Siemens Pak with price per share of 923 (22.20).
The top three losers were Rafhan Maize with price per share of 8800 (-99.99), Exide (PAK) with price per share of 950 (-11.50) and Abbott Lab per share of 634 (-5.45).
Earlier, the stocks opened positive after four holidays as the Karachi Stock Exchange gained 71.27 points to reach 32572.02 points in early trading. The stock market kept the upward momentum of early trading till midday as the KSE-100 index added 255.83 points to take the tally to 32756.58 level.
On Wednesday, the stock opened with positive note, but started sliding till closing at 32500.75 level by shedding 140.32points on the last trading day before four holidays. The KSE-100 index recorded the highest trading level of 32706.10 points and lowest level of 32489.58 points, with the volume of 71,791,890 shares, having Rs5.8 billion value.
