KTBA asks FBR to extend deadline for filing of monthly tax statements

KARACHI: The Karachi Tax Bar Association (KTBA) has requested the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to extend the date and time of the tax filing as the business of the entire country was closed due to the “gazetted holidays” for almost 10 working days i.e from  July 2, 2016 to July 10, 2016, including the Eid holidays announced by the federal government from July 5, 2016 to July 8, 2016. The last date for filing the monthly withholding statements under the income tax and monthly sales tax return under the Sales Tax Act for the tax period of June 2016 was due on the July 15, 2016 and July 18, 2016 which leaves only few working days to feed and put all the data entries in the monthly withholding statement and monthly sales tax return. The KTBA has asked the FBR that to facilitate genuine taxpayers of the country who are who are contributing a huge amount into the national exchequer without any compensation.

The KTBA on behalf of the genuine taxpayers of the country and the members of the Bar earnestly requested the FBR authorities concerned to kindly extend the date of filing of monthly income tax withholding statement and the sales tax return for the tax period of June 2016 till 31st July, 2016 in order to enable them to complete the work and to facilitate them and for a proper compliance of the same.
