LAHORE: The people of Punjab have had the sigh of relief after eight days as the most of petrol pumps of the province have started fuel supply to them.
Around 60 to 70 per cent filling stations have opened, while 50 per cent CNG stations are also operational now.
In Lahore, a petroleum dealers’ association representative said the supply situation improved in the city but the filling stations were not getting enough supply. He said that Lahore needed 2.5 million litres petrol on daily basis against the present supply of more than 1.5 million litres. He said the situation would become normal on Friday.
All Pakistan CNG Association (APCNGA) claimed the opening of CNG outlets had added a lot in bridging the demand and supply gap of fuel and demanded the permanent opening of the gas outlets to avert such situation in future.
Meanwhile, the water and power ministry claimed that there was no threat of fuel shortage in power sector in coming days. “We have enough furnace oil to continue the persisting generation.
More oil will reach for power plants with less than a week period,” said the spokesperson for ministry.
It is expected the hydel generation will further increase in coming days due to increase in outflow of water from major dams after the completion of de-silting period in Punjab canals.
