Lahore I&I detains non-duty paid BMW, Mercedes Benz from Bahria Town

LAHORE: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) detained two non-customs paid BMW car and Mercedes Benz from Bahria Town, Lahore.

According to the credible information was received that non-customs paid vehicle BMW car bearing registration no: APL-22 and Mercedes Benz bearing registration no: DD-009 Islamabad was parked inside House No. 82, Gulbahar Block, Bahria Town Lahore and the owner of the vehicle is also being tried to shift the same vehicle to another location.

An anti-smuggling squad was constituted under the supervision of Deputy Director Asad Ali, the Customs I&I team raided on the above mentioned premises where the found both BMW and Mercedes  Benz was parked.

The driver told the Customs I&I squad that the non-customs paid vehicles belonged to Mohammad Saquib Khan Chidhar who is currently out of Lahore.

During inquiry the driver failed to provide any legal documents regarding import and ownership of the vehicles. The chassis numbers of both vehicles were also tempered.

The Customs I&I team shifted the vehicles to Customs Warehouse in the presence of Intelligence Officer Fazal Mehmood, Ala Ditta.

The owner of the vehicle Mohammad Saquib Khan Chidhar submitted some documents regarding import GD, documents of Saudi Arabian embassy immigration letter and other documents which were not matched with the vehicles.

After this it was quite clear that both the vehicles are non-customs paid and were brought to country without legal documents. Customs Intelligence Officer Mohammad Aslam Chaudhary seized the vehicles and after registering an FIR started further investigations.
