LCCI: LABARD organizes seminar on “Rehabilitation of disabled women”

Lahore: The Lahore Businessmen Association for Rehabilitation of Disabled (LABARD) organized a seminar on the occasion of national Day for women with disabilities at Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI).
Talking to event, the President of LCCI Eng Sohail Lashari urged the masses to play their role to help disabled people so that they could become active members of society.
The LCCI Senior Vice President Mian Tariq Misbah, LABARD Joint Secretary Saeed Khan, Naghmana Javed, LABARD Founder member Rehmatullah Javed and other members of the governing body were also among the speakers.
Engineer Sohail Lashari said that the private sector has been conscious of its responsibilities therefore it would continue to make efforts to eliminate the menace of mental and physical disability.
He said “Millions of Pakistani people have been bearing some kind of disability and a number of disabled persons become beggars due to lack of proper attention so with a little attention these people could become an active part of the society”.
The LCCI Senior Vice President Mian Tariq Misbah said that developed countries have been giving special attention to the disabled persons; even their buildings and public places have been designed to facilitate disabled persons. He insisted on government to provide proper facilities at all building and public places for people with disabilities.
LABARD Joint Secretary Saeed Khan said that disabled persons could play a special role for country’s development as they have some special God gifted abilities. He said that there are many examples in our society when disabled persons made us proud of them.
He said that so far, the Lahore Businessmen Association for Rehabilitation of Disabled (LABARD) has arranged hundreds of jobs for disabled persons. “At the LABARD, a number of services including medical assistance, counseling of mentally disabled persons, speech therapy, Qarz-e-Hasana and crutches, tricycles have been provided absolutely free of cost to special people” he added.
