LAHORE: The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has urged the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to avoid implementation of Audit Policy 2016 untill and unless reservations of business community are not addressed.

“Federal Board of Revenue should not act as trouble maker but to act as facilitator for the business community.”

This was stated by the LCCI President Abdul Basit while addressing a Press Conference on “Audit Policy 2016” here at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce. The LCCI Vice President Muhammad Nasir Hameed Khan, former Vice President Kashif Anwar and former Executive Committee Member Maqsood Butt also spoke on the occasion while former Presidents Mian Muzaffar Ali, Ijaz A. Mumtaz, Executive Committee Members Shahrukh Jamal, Ali Hassam and former Executive Committee Member Zafar Mahmood were present on the occasion.

The LCCI President Abdul Basit and Vice President Muhammad Nasir Hameed Khan suggested that Federal Board of Revenue should complete its homework first and remove the flaws in its own system. They said that Audit Policy 2016 will open the floodgates of corruption.

The LCCI President Abdul Basit said that reportedly Federal Board of Revenue has approved the Audit Policy 2016 without taking into confidence the stakeholders. There is a major policy shift that already audited taxpayers can be selected again for audit through this policy which is by no means acceptable to the business community. We propose to the government to exempt the already audited taxpayers for at least two years.
