LAHORE: The Lahore High Court has barred Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) from selection of already audited industries for tax audit with direction to it to submit reply within two weeks.

A textile company filed the petition through his counsel Mohsin Virk and pointed out that the FBR had already carried out tax selection of his client (unit) for the years 2011-13. However, he said, the board again issued a notice to the petitioner for the tax selection of the same period. He submitted that the courts had already settled that tax selection of already audited industries could not be held without any cogent reason. The counsel requested the court to set aside the impugned notification for being illegal.
