LHC extends stay order in professional tax case till 11 January

LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) has extended the stay order in professional tax over the advocates till 11 January 2016. LHC also issued notice to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and has sought answer regarding professional tax on lawyers.

Yesterday, justice Mansoor Ali Shah heard the case of professional tax in which president Lahore High Court Bar Association Pir Masood Chishti told to the court that lawyers always paying taxes on their income beside this FBR imposed tax on lawyers, tax is illegal and according to law state cannot impose double tax on any citizen so the court must make professional tax on the lawyers null and void.
