LHC orders FBR to implement ST Act before freezing bank accounts of taxpayers

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has restricted the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to freeze bank accounts of taxpayers and recovery of sales tax from bank accounts.

Justice Shams Mehmood Mirza heard appeal filed by the filed by M/s TG Dialyses Center in which counsel for appellant Muhammad Mohsin Virk argued that Federal Board of Revenue has sent notice to the company of Rs 4.8 million sales tax through attachment of bank accounts.

Petitioners counsel prayed before the court that FBR sent tax recovery notice through bank attachment is beyond the law and court may stop FBR from tax collection through bank accounts.

After hearing arguments Lahore High Court (LHC) has restricted FBR to freeze bank accounts of taxpayers for tax recovery and order to implement sales tax acts before freezing of bank accounts of taxpayers.
