LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has ordered the release of three suspects who were allegedly involved in a bid to smuggle 89 kilogram drugs to foreign country.
Earlier, a lower court heard the case and sentenced the suspects to life imprisonment whereas they challenged the decision in the LHC.
The counsel for appellants argued that the trial court convicted his clients on insufficient evidence, adding that the prosecution had no evidence to prove that the recovered drugs were owned by his clients.
On the other hand, the attorney argued that the seized goods were owned by all the three suspects as they were found guilty by the trial court.
After hearing the arguments from both sides, the court ordered to release the all three accused with the remarks that evidences against the accused were not sufficient to prove them guilty.
