LHC stops FBR to collect worker welfare fund from industries

LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) has stopped the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) for the collection of worker welfare fund from the industries.

According to details, Justice Mehmood Mirza heard the appeal filed by the Glexy rice mills in the counsel of appellant Mohson Virk appeared before the court and argued that besides the suspension of worker welfare ordinance by the Lahore High Court (LHC) four years ago, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) send notices to the industries.

Counsel also indicated that the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) misusing the Sindh High Court (SHC) decision, SHC decision only implemented in the sindh industries not in the Punjab.

He appealed before the court that stopped the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) for the collection of worker welfare funds from the industries and orders to null and void all notices issued by FBR.

After hearing the arguments from appellant side Lahore High Court (LHC) issued stay order and seeks reply from the FBR within two weeks.
