LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has summoned Commissioner Income Tax Karamatullah Chaudhary on May 26 to explain the reasons for issuing tax recovery notices to the Punjab University Housing Society despite court directions.
Justice Shahid Jamil Khan issued these orders during the hearing of a plea in which the petitioner challenged the issuance of notice to the housing society. The petitioner prayed that according to law, the FBR is not authorised to issue notice to Punjab University Housing Society.
The court directed Commissioner Income Tax Karmatullah Chaudhary to personally appear before the court to explain the reasons of issuing the tax notice.
