LAHORE: Lifts at the Federal Board of Revenue Regional Tax Office are not functional.

An FBR official told Customs Today that there were four lifts in the seven-floor building of RTO-I, but three of them remained useless every day. He added that the lift at the Large Taxpayer Unit (LTU) was not working for the last two months, but the RTO admin has not taken notice in this regard.

Another junior rank employee complained, “We have to go to different floors to get orders from officers on a daily basis. It is impossible to go from sixth floor to the ground floor via stairs 10-20 times a day. We do have lifts but are unable to use them.”

On the other hand, taxpayers and tax lawyers also urged the administration to repair the lifts as they have to queue up because there was only one operational lift.
