LTU starts action against companies involved in tax evasion

KARACHI: The Large Taxpayers Unit has started taking action against companies which are involved in tax evasion.

Sources informed Customs Today that zero tolerance policy will be adopted for companies involved in tax evasion. Sources said that the LTU has sent notice to M/s Zafar and Sons which is involved in tax evasion amounting to Rs 165.5 million.

Sources said that during the scrutiny of data submitted by M/s Zafar and Sons, it was revealed that company failed to clear pending income tax dues amounting to Rs 130 million.

Now the LTU has issued a final notice to M/s Zafar and Sons to clear pending tax amount till April 20, 2016, failing which strict action will be taken against the company, which will lead to freezing of its bank accounts and properties.
