KUALA LUMPUR: Popular Malaysian 90’s actor Khaeryll Benjamin Ibrahim, better known as Benjy, was arrested at Medan Kuala Namu International Airport, on suspicion of hiding syabu in his rectum.
Benjy, 38, was detained by Indonesian Customs and Excise Department officers at the airport upon arrival on Tuesday (April 18).
Kuala Namu Customs and Excise division head Zaky Firmansayah said their inspections showed that Benjy, who had arrived in Indonesia via a Malindo Air flight, had 14 grammes of syabu stuffed inside him.
“Upon examination, drugs were found hidden in his rectum. He admitted that he bought them from someone in Kuala Lumpur.
“In the course of the interrogation, he (Benjy) he travelled here to meet with a friend named ‘DJ’,” he told local media Detik News on Thursday.
Zaky said Benjy has been transferred to the Northern Sumatera district police anti-narcotics division for further investigation.
Benjy, a gifted actor, is the son of the late screen legend Azean Irdawaty.
He has had a chequered history with narcotics. In 2010, he was arrested at an apartment in Kepong in connection with producing and supplying drugs.
In 2015, he was arrested twice in the span of one month, also on drug-related offences.
