KUALA LUMPUR: A Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of a local premier biscuit manufacturing company pleaded not guilty at the magistrate’s court to failing to produce his Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder before customs officers in Pulau Langkawi within a stipulated time. Soo Chung Yee, 37, was charged with violating the terms in clause 21A of the Customs Duties (Exemption) Order by failing to produce his car in Pulau Langkawi, Kedah on Oct 3, 2012.
He allegedly committed the offence at Sadra Motor Sdn Bhd, Lot 2808A in Jalan Kg Sungai Penchala, Damansara here at 12 noon on March 3, 2014. The charge under Section 138 of the Customs Act 1967 carries a maximum fine of RM20,000 or a jail term of not more than five years or both, upon conviction. Magistrate Nur’Aminatul Mardhiah Md Nor fixed RM6,000 bail with one surety and set Oct 12 for mention for Soo to appoint a lawyer. Customs prosecuting officer Mohd Nafizi Ramli prosecuted while Soo was unrepresented.
