WASHINGTON: Import duty revenue for last month had increased by 11 percent from last year February, statistics show. According to official statistics released by Maldives Customs Service on Sunday, revenue from import duty and other fees in February amounts to MVR 172.7 million, while the numbers from last year stood MVR 162 million.
Customs also reported that costs of imported and exported goods in February had increased by 23 percent and 67 percent respectively. Customs’ statistics show that costs in February for importation of food were MVR 491.4 million, importation of machinery were MVR 481.5 million, and importation of oil products were MVR 136.3 million.
