Mangla Dam raising project to increase 644 GWh production

ISLAMABAD: Ministry of Water and Power has announced that Mangla Dam has been raised by 40 ft which will provide 644 GWh of additional electricity.

On completion, Tarbela 4th and 5th Extension Hydropower projects will provide generation of 1410 MW each. Regarding steps being taken to increase production of electricity and maintain their present storage capacity for agriculture purpose, the ministry said recently Mangla Dam has been raised to store 2.9 MAF additional water. On completion of Diamer Basha Dam, the useful life of Tarbela Dam Project will be extended by 35 years.
