Mardan ASO seizes smuggled cloth in third week of September

ISLAMABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO), Mardan, seized goods worth Rs 607,500 during third week of September of the fiscal year 2016-17.

Officials claimed that the Mardan ASO was working efficiently, as it made many seizures during the first two and half months of new fiscal year. The ASO also launched a crackdown against non-duty paid vehicles with the start of new fiscal year and impounded many vehicles till September 15.

The officials told Customs Today that the Mardan ASO seized 1620 kilogramme of foreign origin smuggled fabric worth Rs 607,500 during an action on Peshawar-Mardan GT Road.

After seizing the fabric, the ASO lodged an FIR against offenders and case has been referred to Peshawar Customs Investigation and Prosecution for further investigation.

The officials of Peshawar Customs said that the anti-smuggling teams were taking stern actions against the smuggler, as vigilance has been enhanced on roads to bust smuggling attempts.
