Martyred Customs inspector Abdul Ghaffar remembered

ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue has announced deep regret over the sad demise of Abdul Ghaffar Sheikh, a Pakistan Customs Service officer of BS-16.

Abdul Ghaffar Sheikh was born on June 15, 1961 and joined the government service on October 03, 1982. At the time of his death, the officer was posted as Inspector, Model Customs Collectorate, Hyderabad.

The officer was martyred during a raid on a godown in Town Market Hyderabad, in which a large quantity of smuggled goods were seized. On being cornered, the smugglers opened fire and shot injured Inspector Abdul Ghaffar Sheikh, who scrummed to his injuries in hospital.

The inspector was a dedicated, honest and brave officer who has many remarkable achievements of anti-smuggling operations to his credit. The officer served this department beyond the call of duty with untiringly zeal and devotion for a period of 33 years, the Board acknowledged.
