ISLAMABAD: The Collector Model Customs Collectorate Islamabad will hold a meeting with officials of Preventive Department on 6th of April 2017 to make the Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) and the Car Cell more efficient.
According to Collector MCC Islamabad Dr. Arsalan, during the past two months, the ASO performance has been unsatisfactory, so he decided for an exclusive meeting with the Preventive Department for their motivation.
During eight months, the performance of the ASO has been satisfactory but in the month of March 2017 the ASO performance looked slow. During eight months from July to February 2016-17, the ASO worked hard and showed satisfactory performance.
Collector Dr. Arslan, explaining the comparative performance of the Preventive Division, said the ASO made about 215 seizures from July to February 2015-16 whereas it did 254 seizures during the same period of FY2016-17 while ASO seized goods valued Rs94.617million during July to February FY2015-16 while it seized goods valued Rs176.721million during the same period of FY2016-17.
During above said period of FY2015-16, the ASO impounded six NDP vehicles worth Rs13.014million whereas during same period of FY2016-17 the ASO impounded 66 NDP vehicles valued Rs115.375million. During current financial year from July to February FY16-17, the ASO seized various kinds of smuggled goods valued Rs407.096million whereas during the same period of corresponding financial year 2015-16 the ASO seized smuggled goods priced Rs180.43million.
