The workshop was attended by a large number of importers and exporters from different business organizations under the jurisdiction of the Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Faisalabad.

The detailed intellectual property rights awareness presentation was delivered by Muhammad Yousaf, Customs DTRE Department’s Customs Officer.

He said a trademark is a recognized sign, design or expression which identifies product or service of a particular source. Although trademark used to identify services is usually called service mark.

The trademark infringement cases still occur very often these days as small companies still expect that they can take advantage of the reputation of bigger companies without their notice or can hope that they could win the trademark infringement lawsuit.

The presentations were followed by a question-answer session where participants highlighted their issues faced in sales tax and income tax at the time of registering their manufacturing items in their companies.

The workshop also provided an opportunity of interaction with the taxpayers so as to facilitate them as well as to get feedback from them to further improve the FBR-Taxpayer relationship.

The participants of the workshop appreciated the holding of such event and thanked the FBR for providing them with this opportunity of direct interaction with the tax authorities. They hoped that these workshops would be made a regular feature of the FBR’s outreach program.

At the end, Muhammad Yousaf thanked the participants for their active participation in the session.
