KARACHI: The Member Customs-FBR Nisar Muhammad Ali Khan has urged the adjudicating authorities to improvise the human resources in their respective collectorates in order to enhance the performance and to facilitate the aggrieved parties during the adjudicating process.
The sources informed Customs Today that the Member Customs Nisar Muhammad Ali in the recent meeting with the Collectors of the Collectorates of Customs Adjudication-I and II Dr Farid Iqbal Qureshi and Dr Saifuddin Memon to expedite the process of adjudication and dispose-off the cases in the stipulated time frame.
During the meeting, both the Collectors briefed the Member Customs about the current status of the cases being adjudicated in the Collectorates of Customs Adjudication-I and II.
The Member Customs expressed his satisfaction over the performance of the adjudicating collectorates and asked the authorities concerned to continue their working with the same pace.
On the occasion, the Member Customs assured his full cooperation and support to the Collectors in the adjudicating procedures.
When contacted, Collector of the Collectorate of Customs Adjudication-I Dr Farid Iqbal Qureshi confirmed that the Member-Customs Nisar Muhammad Ali stressed upon the need to enhance the capacity building and human resource of the Collectorate.
He further informed this scribe that the Collectorate of Customs Adjudication-I despite facing shortage of man-power was at par to other Collectorates as far as working is concerned.
The Collector of Customs Adjudication-I further said that the high profile cases involving massive tax evasion amounting billions of rupees have been adjudicated by the Collectorate of Customs Adjudication-I.
He further disclosed that the FBR high authorities are assured their full assistance in case of any difficulty being faced by the Collectorate of Customs Adjudication.
