ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Inland Revenue-Operations (IR) Member Dr Muhammad Irshad has started making efforts with the start of new fiscal year 2016-17 for achieving the revenue targets.
In this regard, the member visited field offices in Karachi last week and now he will visit Rawalpindi Regional Tax Office on Tuesday. He will hold meeting with RTO Chief Commissioner Tanveer Ahmad and other officials.
During his visit, he will review the performance of the officials, besides holding discussion about the strategies and planning for achieving revenue targets in running fiscal year. The results achieved during last year by implanting the planning for broadening of tax base will also be reviewed.
It is learnt that the member will also appreciate the performance of the officials those achieved excellent results during last year, besides warring those who showed poor performance.
In order to achieve revenue targets, all officials will have to working tirelessly with determination in the larger interest of the country, the member said.
It may be mentioned here that the FBR for the first time in the last decade managed to achieve its desired tax collection target of Rs 3,104 billion set for outgoing fiscal year 20154-16. The monthly revenue collection target for June 2016 was Rs 448 billion. During July-May 2015-16, the provisional collection stood at Rs 2,645 billion.
Gross collection amounted to Rs 2,698 billion during this period and after payment of refunds of Rs 53 billion, the net collection stood at Rs2,654 billion during July-May 2015-16.
