Mianwali ASO impounds NDP Hino truck, ground peanuts during road checking

MIANWALI: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has seized smuggled ground peanut 11055 kilograms worth Rs1,43,7317 involving customs duty and taxes worth Rs663467 loaded on a Hino truck. The ASO team also impounded Hino truck during action.

Sources told Customs Today, that Customs Collectorate Collector Asif Mehmood Jah received credible information regarding smuggling attempts. He formed an ASO team comprising Superintendent Chaudhary Muhammad Sardar and Inspector Azhar Hussain Jafari, driver Riasat Hussain, sepoys Faiz Ahmad, Sher Ahmad and Muhammad Abdullah.

The team intercepted Hino truck bearing registration no: TKV-812 loaded with ground peanut packed in polythene bags Afghani near Chashma Barrage district Mianwali.

The officials asked the driver to produce documents regarding legal import of the goods. The driver who identified himself Hamash Gul son of Rab Nawaz has failed to produce the lawful proof of its import. He provide the truck bility no: 551 in his defiance. The said truck bilty was examined and found that bags were not tallied with the recovered items.

After his failure, the ASO team seized the goods and forwarded the case to Customs Adjudication for further proceedings. Collector Asif Mehmood Jah has appreciated the performance of ASO team which foiled various smuggled bids in the region.
