Mianwali ASO seizes black peppers valued Rs1.9m

FAISALABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Mianwali has confiscated foreign origin (F/O) black peppers worth Rs1.9million involving duty and taxes of Rs674188 during an action.

Deputy Collector Muhammad Rizwan received a tip-off that smuggled items were being smuggled into the country without payment of duty and taxes on which he formed a team.

The ASO team intercepted a Mazda truck with Registration No: Z-7127 which was coming from Peshawar to Sara-e-Muhajir near Dagil, district Bhakkar, and recovered (80-bags) of foreign origin (F/O) black peppers.

The team asked driver named Izzat Ullah son of Hazrat Ullah, a resident of district Mipur, to produce documents regarding the legal import of the items. He showed a receipt No: 6785 dated 1-2-2107 as the name of consigner and consignee Diamond Trading Multan but could not show documents of legal import of the items. The team impounded the items besides registering a case against him.

The raiding party comprised Superintendent Chaudhary Sardar Muhammad, Muhammad Umar Bhatti and Inspector Azhar Hussain Jafari, Driver Riasat Hussain, Sepoys Faiz Ahmad, Sher Ahmad and Muhammad Abdullah.
