Mianwali ASO seizes non duty paid tyres from MM Alam Road

MIANWALI: The Anti -Smuggling Organization has confiscated 28 foreign origin tyres worth Rs2,79,000 involving customs duty and taxes of Rs45,406 during a crackdown at M.M Road.

Sources told Customs Today that Assistant Collector Shah Samad Hamadani received a tip off regarding the smuggling of foreign origin smuggled and non-customs duty paid tyres.

He formed a team, comprising ASO Customs Mianwali Superintendent Chaudhary Sardar Muhammad, Inspector Azhar Hussain Jafri, Muhammad Munawar Rathoor and Sepoy Muhammad Yousaf, Safdar Hussain, Muhammad Abdullah, Faiz Ahmed and also driver Riasat Hussain which participated in the action.

The ASO team intercepted a public transport vehicle bearing registration no: LES-16-7399 near Toll Plaza M.M Alam Road and recovered the foreign origin brand new tyres made in China.

Prior to the recovery of goods, the officials asked the driver Muhammad Rizwan to produce documents regarding the legal import of the items but he could not prove anything.

The team impounded the items under the Customs Act. A case was registered against the accused. The case has been sent to the customs adjudication for further legal action. The ASO deposited the confiscated foreign origin tyres into the Mianwali State Warehouse.
