Mianwali ASO seizes smuggled cigarettes worth Rs 260,000

FAISALABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO), Mianwali, has seized smuggled cigarettes worth Rs 260,000 involving duty/taxes amounting to Rs 33,502.

ASO Deputy Collector Rizwan Khan, after receiving information regarding the smuggling attempt, made a team following the instructions of Collector Dr Zulfiqar to foil the smuggling bid.

The team comprising Superintendent Chaudhary Muammad Sardar, Inspector Muhammad Umar Bhatti and Sepoy Muhammad Amin conducted rid and found 500 cartons of cigarettes of different brands, including Milano, and Pine from a loader rickshaw, which was being used for the transportation of the items from M/s Al-Atif Goods Forwarding Agency to city area.

The customs officials asked the accused person identified as Ghulam Mohayuudin son of Muhammad Sharif to produced documents regarding legal possession of cigarette. But he failed to provide the same.

Later, the seizure report was submitted to the adjudication department for further investigation after confiscating the cigarettes.
