According to sources, approximately 300 cartons of non-duty paid cigarettes, previously seized by RTO’s enforcement teams, have vanished from the upper-floor warehouse. The estimated value of the missing goods ranges from 25 to 30 million rupees. Despite the presence of security guards and CCTV cameras, the circumstances surrounding this disappearance remain unclear, leaving officials perplexed.

In response to the incident, the Commissioner of Inland Revenue for the Multan Zone has ordered an inquiry into the matter. Assistant Commissioner of Inland Revenue, Fatima Zahra Khan, has been tasked with leading the investigation. However, it has been reported that she has taken leave shortly after receiving the directive, further complicating the inquiry process.

This incident highlights not only potential lapses in security but also raises concerns regarding the internal operations of the Regional Tax Office. An investigation is expected to commence promptly, aimed at uncovering the facts and holding those responsible accountable for this troubling event. The outcome of this inquiry will be closely monitored, as stakeholders seek clarity and assurance of the integrity of tax administration in the region.
