MULTAN, OCTOBER 23: A shocking revelation has emerged from the Regional Tax Office (RTO) in Multan, where hundreds of non-duty paid cigarette cartons valued at millions of rupees have mysteriously vanished. Despite the presence of security guards and CCTV cameras, the disappearance of such a substantial quantity from the upper-floor warehouse has left officials baffled.
A significant security breach has been uncovered at the Regional Tax Office (RTO) in Multan, where hundreds of non-duty paid cigarette cartons, valued at millions of rupees, have mysteriously disappeared. This alarming incident has raised questions about the effectiveness of security measures in place at the facility.
According to sources, approximately 300 cartons of non-duty paid cigarettes, previously seized by RTO’s enforcement teams, have vanished from the upper-floor warehouse. The estimated value of the missing goods ranges from 25 to 30 million rupees. Despite the presence of security guards and CCTV cameras, the circumstances surrounding this disappearance remain unclear, leaving officials perplexed.
In response to the incident, the Commissioner of Inland Revenue for the Multan Zone has ordered an inquiry into the matter. Assistant Commissioner of Inland Revenue, Fatima Zahra Khan, has been tasked with leading the investigation. However, it has been reported that she has taken leave shortly after receiving the directive, further complicating the inquiry process.
