RABAT: Morocco’s Central Bureau for Judiciary Investigations (BCIJ), foiled the trafficking operation of 6 tons and 370 kg of cannabis following the smashing of an international criminal ring operating between Morocco and Europe.
The drug was carefully hidden in a cargo of frozen fish meant to be exported onboard a truck, said BCIJ on Sunday.
The network’s mastermind and six other people were arrested, it said, adding that investigations are under way under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office to throw light on the ring’s activities and identify other accomplices.
This operation is part of continuous efforts by the BCIJ to counter organized crime and crack down on cross-border criminal networks, mainly international drug trafficking networks, it added.
