M/s Reckitt Benckiser Pakistan availing ‘illegal’ customs concessions: PCA

KARACHI: The Directorate of Post Clearance Audit (PCA), Karachi has detected short-paid tax to the tune of Rs 5 million by M/s Reckitt Benckiser Pakistan Limited by availing benefits and customs concessions on import of LED tube-lights and LED bulbs.

According to sources, PCA Directorate Karachi, on scrutiny/audit of import data, found that M/s Reckitt Benckiser Pakistan Limited had imported LED T8 tube-lights, LED bulbs through Appraisement West. The importer claimed benefits of Fifth Schedule.

However, Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has clarified that benefits of Fifth Schedule is for renewable energy technologies for LEDs with or without ballast with fittings. according to sources, the importer M/s Reckitt Benckiser Pakistan Limited has been directed to pay the short-paid taxes and duties at the earliest in this regard.
