Multan Additional Collector Adjudication declares seizure of Nissan oil tanker as legal

MULTAN: Additional Collector Customs Adjudication Talib Hussain issued Order-in -Original (ONO) for confiscation of smuggled Nissan diesel oil tanker.

Sources told Customs Today that Multan Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization intercepted a Nissan diesel oil tanker bearing registration no: SPA/025/Jaffarbad near Dera Ghazi Sakhi Sarwar route during road checking. Nissan Diesel oil tanker was found empty at the time of Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization operation. Driver Kifayat Anjum son of Umar Daraz of said oil tanker was asked to produce original documents for verification.

The import documents of said Nissan oil tanker found doubtful during examination of Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization. Anti-Smuggling teams detained the said oil tanker for further verification. Driver revealed that he used that oil tanker was being used for transportation of diesel from different parts of country.

Driver informed anti-smuggling teams that they loaded the High Speed Diesel (HSD) oil from Pakistan State Oil depot, Mehmood Kot to deliver the same at various oil agencies located in Multan and other cities of South Punjab.

Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization decided to impound the said vehicle after owner failed to submit original documents and seizure report was forwarded to Additional Collector Customs Adjudication for trial. Anti-Smuggling Organization has also carried out its forensic laboratory examination of Nissan Oil Tanker which established charge of smuggling and Oil Tanker was carried through clandestine route in the country.

Owner Kifayat Anjum failed to prove legal ownership of vehicle during hearing and submitted detail reply of his comments after issuance of show cause in the seizure case. Additional Collector Customs Adjudication Talib Hussain issued Order-in –Original in the favour of Anti-Smuggling Organization on the basis of laboratory report and verification.

Charges made by Anti-Smuggling Organization in the seizure report/show-cause notice stand established. The net value of confiscated Nissan Oil Tanker was almost Rs.4 million and duty taxes of Rs.2 million. Therefore, the court ordered to confiscate said oil tanker out rightly under Customs Act 1969.
