Peshawar Customs foils bid to smuggle narcotics to Punjab

PESHAWAR: Customs Intelligence and Investigation team during a crackdown at Rashkai interchange thwarted an attempt of opium smuggling and seized 86 kilogram chars and 36 kilogram narcotics being smuggled to Punjab.

Sources told Customs Today that on a tip off received to Director Custom Intelligence Muhammad Saleem regarding smuggling of huge quantity of opium to Punjab, following the information a team under Deputy Director Wajid was constituted which flag down a suspected vehicle bearing registration number ET-5189 near Rashkai inter change and recovered 86 kilogram chars and 36 kilogram opium.

Official said that the confiscated narcotics were worth of million rupees. The arrested persons were identified Ijaz and Zeshan resident of Sahiwal.

In another crackdown custom officials recovered 43 tolas gold at Torkham border and arrested an accuse Rahmatullah along with his accomplices. The gold was being smuggled to Afghanistan for trade purpose.
