Multan Adjudication issues ONO against smuggled tyres & cloths worth Rs15m

MULTAN: Collector Customs Adjudication issued Order in Original (ONO) against owner of smuggled tyres and clothes worth Rs 15 million after completion of trial.

According to details, Multan Customs Intelligence and Investigation intercepted suspected Nissan truck bearing registration number AE/1370/Sindh of Model 1990 from Muzaffargarh region in their operation. Customs Intelligence and Investigation found that the said truck was loaded with huge quantity of foreign origin tyres and cloths.

Customs team asked the driver who was identified as Wazir Muhammad son of Muhammad Ali resident of Quetta to provide the documents regarding import of the above said loaded items. But he failed to produce any legal documents regarding lawful possession of items.

Field Intelligence Unit of Multan Customs formed the seizure case after seizing said and forwarded the case to Collector Customs Adjudication Asif Khan Buzdar for legal proceedings. M/s Shadab Karachi Goods Transport Company of Karachi and others claimed the ownership of said goods but they never appeared before the Customs Intelligence and Customs Adjudication during investigation and they have not attended any hearing of said goods before Collector.

Collector Customs Adjudication Asif Abbas Khan issued final Order-in -Original after giving sufficient time to accused persons but they failed to present any valid evidence or documents regarding the payment of taxes on the import of cloth and tyres thus collector Adjudication ordered for confiscation of the seized cloth and tyres under Section 156(1)89 of the Customs Act 1969.
