MULTAN: The Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Multan has collected Rs 4,164.971 million during the month of April. Collector Sarfraz Ahmad Warraich has been very optimistic about achieving the target of the economic year 2014-15.

According to the statistics, Multan has generated customs duties to the tune of Rs 690.716 million during the month of April. The target of the customs duty assigned to MCC Multan during the months of April in the fiscal year 2014-15 was Rs 821.070 million.

The MCC Multan has achieved 84 percent of the target. The Multan collectorate has shown 6.11 percent increase in the collection of customs duties during current fiscal year as compared to the same period of last fiscal year.

The Model Customs Collector Multan has collected Rs 3094.505 million as sales tax against the assigned target of Rs 1,820.940 million and achieved 170 percent of the target in the month of April. The MCC Multan has collected federal excise duty of Rs 43.030 million against the target of Rs 17.541 million and showed 234 percent achievement in the existing economic year 2014-15.

According to the statistics of the customs, MCC Multan has collected Rs 336.72 million under the head of income tax against the target of Rs 3472.57 million during the fiscal year 2014-15 and achieved 103 percent of the target. The department has generated 12 percent more revenue than the previous economic year 2013-14.

The MCC Multan has shown much improvement in all formats of tax collection, including sales tax, federal excise duty and income tax. But on the other hand, it failed to improve customs duty collection as the government has not yet increased the percentage on customs duty.

The prices of high speed diesel oil in the international market and decrease in the import of crude oil have also affected the collection of revenue at the MCC Multan.
