Multan Customs handles 1367 consignments Q1 of FY 2016-17

MULTAN: The Model Customs Collectorate has observed increase in the export commodities from the Multan Dry Port in first quarter of the fiscal year 2016-17.

The export of the various items from the customs colllectorate is showing positive development in the first three months of the new financial year as compared to previous economic year. Multan Customs have its significant importance in the region due to its demographic locality because Multan dry port is the only available port for the handling of export consignments in whole South Punjab.

Due to existence of only dry port in the region, local business community of the South Punjab preferred their export clearance through Multan Dry Port. It was observing continuous decline in the export of various items and goods due to overall decrease in the national export of the country in previous fiscal year. The major reason of the decline in the export of the local industry and less clearances was observed due to less production of local goods and items in the outgoing fiscal year 2015-16.

There were almost 418 different export Gd,s  of worth Rs1.629 billion filed and handled in the month of September of the current economic year 2016-17.While exporters have filed and cleared their 381 various Gd,s  of Worth Rs1.54 billion in the matching period of the fiscal year 2015-16.

Moreover exporters have cleared their 1367 various export consignments of worth Rs4.698 billion during the first quarter of the fiscal year 2016-17. Exporters have cleared 976 various consignments of worth Rs4.262 billion during the first quarter of the previous fiscal year 2015-16 due to overall decline in the national export.

The Model of Customs Collectorate Multan is providing swift clearance of the export consignment of the export for their facilitation of business. The department has handled 331,618 and 418 of Worth Rs1.265 billion  ,Rs1.803billion, Rs1.629 billion of various export batches in the July, August and September respectively during the first three months of the fiscal year 2016-17.The Model of Customs Collectorate Multan was observing clear fall in the export in the first quarter by clearing  consignments of 272, 323 ,381 of worth Rs1.245 billion,Rs1.476 billion ,Rs1.540 billion during the said period.

The increase in the export activities at Multan will also expedite the clearance of the consignment at Multan Dry Port and generate opportunity for the Collectorate to accomplish their assigned revenue tasks.
