MULTAN: Collectorate of Customs Enforcement & Compliance (E&C)has seized three trucks loaded with non-customs paid skimmed milk powder, cardamom, cloves and miscellaneous goods worth Rs95 million near Sher Shah.
According to details, Collector MCC Enforcement & Compliance (E&C) Multan Muneeza Majeed received trustworthy information that huge quantity of miscellaneous smuggled goods will be smuggled through Baluchistan Punjab Border and their final destination will be Multan. Collector Muneeza Majeed informed the Anti-Smuggling Squad Multan by directing them to foil smuggling of foreign origin goods.
Anti-Smuggling Organization Multan made special joint team including Inspector Muhammad Waqas Leghari and others for taking action against smuggled goods. Following the directions of Collector, ASO squad started patrolling of the suspected routes and recovered huge quantity of smuggled goods loaded on three various trucks. Anti-Smuggling Organization teams found that three various trucks were loaded with huge quantity of smuggled betel nuts, cardamom, cloves and other miscellaneous goods during their action. Customs Anti-smuggling team’s detained foreign origin smuggled goods after thorough examination. The origins of recovered miscellaneous goods were Iran and they were smuggled through clandestine Baluchistan border.
During preliminary investigation of Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization Multan found that said miscellaneous goods were smuggled through clandestine routes and said goods were belonging to wanted group of smugglers Haji Sadiq Achakzai and smugglers were trying to transport said goods in the local markets of Multan.
Customs Anti-Smuggling teams seized the various miscellaneous and shifted the betel nuts to Customs State Warehouse. Multan Customs has also arrested seven persons of the trucks for further interrogation and started legal action them after the recovery of non-duty paid miscellaneous goods.
The value of the seized betel nuts was almost Rs95 million and Rs25 millions of vehicles. Customs seized the miscellaneous goods under Customs act 1969 and further investigations regarding the seized goods were still under process.
