Multan Customs impounds vehicles & goods worth Rs19.72m in July

MULTAN: Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan Range Office has impounded non-customs paid vehicles and miscellaneous goods of worth Rs.19.72 million during the month of July in their various anti-smuggling activities.

According to details, Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan Range Office has initiated dynamic crackdown against smuggled vehicles in the region by devising aggressive strategy. Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan Range Office has enhanced monitoring of various suspected routes adopted for transportation of smuggled vehicles and goods in the jurisdiction to curb smuggling.

Deputy Director Customs Intelligence Khial Muhammad Khan has also boosted patrolling in Sakhi Sarwar, Rajanpur, Taunsa and its adjoining areas to curb smuggling of non- customs paid vehicles and goods on the clear directions of Director General Customs Intelligence Shaukat Ali. Deputy Director Khial Muhammad Khan has directed field staff of Customs Intelligence to tighten up the checking of Dera Ghazi Khan to curtail smuggling of non-customs paid and goods which entered through Baluchistan border.

Customs Intelligence has impounded eleven various luxurious vehicles of different brands and models including Toyota Land Cruiser, Toyota Vitz, Toyota Raum, Suzuki Swift, Honda Civic car, Toyota Hiace Wagon, Suzuki Pick Up, and others of worth Rs19.72 million through entire month of July in their anti-smuggling actions. All these vehicles were seized after the verification of vehicle registration branch and excise department during their physical examination.

Some of these impounded vehicles were found non-tampered and tampered during examination of Customs Intelligence and Investigations in their actions. All these vehicles seizure cases advance information reports has been submitted to Customs Adjudication for further proceedings and action. These seized vehicles will be auctioned very soon after their trial in the Customs Adjudication.
