Multan Customs Intelligence seizes contraband items worth Rs 19m in January

MULTAN: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has impounded non-customs paid vehicles and miscellaneous goods worth Rs 29.915 million during January of the current fiscal year.

The Customs Intelligence has launched many anti-smuggling campaigns in its jurisdiction and has registered 11 seizures cases in Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan and Sadiqabad. One seizure case was registered in Multan in which a Toyota Hilux vehicle was impounded. The value of the vehicle is estimated at Rs 1.5 million.

Dera Ghazi Khan Field Intelligence Unit had detected six cases of smuggling involving Rs.22.415 million.  The anti-smuggling squad of Customs Intelligence seized high speed diesel oil, Indian Origin illegal medicines, vehicles and other items. Toyota Premio, Toyota Corolla and Hino trucks were seized during January involving duty/taxes to the tune of Rs.8.82 million.

The Customs Intelligence made four different seizure cases of Rs 6 million from Sadiqabad region. The officials submitted all seizure cases after lodging advance information report to Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation. Most of the cases have been forwarded to Customs Adjudication for their final conclusion.

There was no contravention formed by Customs Intelligence and Investigation during the month of January in their anti-smuggling actions.
