Multan Customs Intelligence seizes huge quantity of foreign origin wood

MULTAN: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation seized huge quantity of foreign origin  wood during intelligence base operation.

Sources told Customs Today, Deputy Director Customs I&I Khial Muhammad Khan received credible information from their source that huge quantity of imported shipment of wood will be transported from the jurisdiction.

Deputy Director Khial Muhammad Khan constituted special team to carry out operation to thwart any attempt of smuggling after receiving information. Customs I&I staff comprising Inspector Haq Nawaz , Inspector Muhammad Umer, Zulfiqar, Shakeel ur Rehman and others.

Customs Intelligence Multan staff was deputed near Bahawalpur region to thwart smuggling attempt. Customs team started the physical inspection of coming goods to intercept the said smuggle goods.

Customs Intelligence teams intercepted a suspected container near Bahawalpur Bypass which was coming from Karachi after proper clearance from Karachi Port. The said import container was loaded with huge quantity of foreign origin wood diyar, timber and others. The driver of the suspected truck was asked to produce the import documents of the loaded goods to justify their possession.

Said driver provided the import documents to Customs Intelligence and Investigation teams. Import Gds and examined goods of container revealed that importers has done mis-declaration during the physical verification of said container from Field Intelligence Unit. Intercepted wood was coming from Karachi and its destination was Mangora city of Swat . Customs teams found mis-declaration from importer in the import of foreign wood and wood was imported for the manufacturing of high class furniture. The worth of the said imported seized wood and vehicle was almost Rs15 million.
