MULTAN: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has seized 22,761 kilogram of poppy seeds worth Rs 3.5 million during an action.
According to the details, Deputy Director Naveed ur Rehman Bughvi, following information regarding the smuggling of poppy seeds, directed his field staff to conduct a raid for busting the smuggling attempt.
The Customs Intelligence staff intercepted a truck bearing Registration No TKC-61 7 near the Multan-Khanewal bypass and recovered 578 bags of poppy seeds. The officials took the truck into their custody after thorough examination of the goods.
The driver of the truck named Asmatullah, a resident of Quetta, told interrogators that he was transporting the goods from Quetta to Sahiwal.
Officials told Customs Today that investigation was underway to trace out the main accused of the case.
