Multan Customs registers 19 cases in July, recovers Rs13.74m

Multan: Customs Intelligence and Investigation has registered total 19 seizure cases involving Rs 13.74 duty evasion in July 2014.
As per details, Multan customs Intelligence and Investigation registered 13 cases in the range office Multan, 2 cases in Dera Ghazi Khan and one case in Sadiqabad respectively.
Moreover, total duty and taxes recovered in these raids estimated at Rs13.74 million. Two vehicles and engines of motor cars seized from Dera Ghazi Khan worth Rs 1.8 million.
The total duty involved in seized vehicles due to nonpayment of duty and customs taxes during the month of July was Rs 9.5 million.
Customs has also seized 8650 liters of Iranian diesel, engine oil worth Rs 908,250 during raid in Sadiqabad.
The total worth of seized goods was approximately Rs 38.13 million and the total duty involved was Rs 16.11 million. These seized goods includes cloths, cycle parts, diesel, generator, vehicles ,engines of different vehicles ,milk powder, tyres, and carbon steel rods of baking biscuits.
The highest tax and duty dodging involved was in the case of Saim Mobeen Food Company which is Rs 4.68 million due to miss declaration of imported iron steel rods.
On contacting, Additional Director Customs intelligence and investigation told Customs Today that customs officers were trying their best to stop smuggling and to increase revenue by collecting due duty on imports.
